Dark Drinking Chocolate
Dello Mano Dark Drinking Chocolate is a small-batch blend made with real Belgian dark chocolate and rich cocoa, finished with gentle spice and a subtle touch of chilli warmth.
Dark, rich and layered, it is made for those who want more from a cup of hot chocolate. The real chocolate brings depth to the blend, while the spice and chilli sit quietly in the background, leaving a gentle warmth at the finish.
Drinking chocolate has a long history at Dello Mano, from our early New Farm Farmers Market days to Deborah’s years of professional food product development. This new 180 g blend brings that experience into a drinking chocolate to prepare and enjoy at home.

Made with real Belgian dark chocolate and rich cocoa, with gentle spice and a subtle chilli warmth, this is a darker, more layered kind of drinking chocolate.

A darker, richer kind of hot chocolate
The first impression is dark chocolate: rich, rounded and deeply cocoa-led. Gentle spice follows, with just a touch of chilli warmth appearing quietly at the finish.
The chilli is not intended to dominate the cup. It sits behind the chocolate, adding warmth and complexity rather than heat.
Made for a quiet morning, an afternoon pause or the simple pleasure of something genuinely good at the end of the day.
Made with real Belgian dark chocolate
For us, drinking chocolate should begin with the chocolate.
We blend rich cocoa with real Belgian dark chocolate to create a deeper, fuller chocolate experience. The result is a dark drinking chocolate with layers of flavour: chocolate first, gentle spice through the cup and subtle chilli warmth at the finish.

Our drinking chocolate story began at the markets
Long before this drinking chocolate was packed into a canister, hot chocolate had already become part of the Dello Mano story.
Bien is pictured here at one of our first New Farm Farmers Market days in Brisbane in 2007. In those early market years, I would begin making a large batch at around 2am, ready for the 5am market start. The hot chocolate began with an old Mayan-style recipe that I adapted over time.
People began queuing for it. Some travelled from the Gold Coast with thermoses. Others brought an extra thermos to take hot chocolate home for a flatmate who was not prepared to get up early enough for the market.
Years later, while we were preparing our West End store, a woman stopped her car after recognising us as “the hot chocolate people from the markets.” After all that time, she still remembered the hot chocolate she and her husband had shared in those early Dello Mano days.
Drinking chocolate also reaches further back into my professional life, through years spent working with drinking chocolate during her earlier career in food product development.
This packaged blend is a new drinking chocolate—not the same prepared recipe we served at the markets—but it continues a part of the Dello Mano story that has been with us for many years.
