Therewerenostrictrulestofollow,onlythesensethatcare,craft,andcouragemattered.Thecity’swarmth —bothinclimateandcharacter —founditswayintoeverythingwemade,fromourfirstmarketstallbrowniestothebrowniegiftrangewenowshipacrossthecountryandbeyond.
Brisbanedidn’tjustinspireourhandmadeapproach —itbelievedinit.Andwe’llalwayscarrythatwithus.
Ourfirstdaysellingbrowniesisetchedinmemory —notforthesuccess,butforthevulnerability.Itwasthefirsttimewesharedsomethingtrulyourown.Wehadn’tcopiedanyone.Weweren’ttrend-chasing.Wewereputtingourcreativity —andourhearts —ondisplay.
Thesizeofouroriginalbrowniecube?Thatcamefrommykids’schoolruler.Istillrememberstandingatthekitchenbench,developingtheboxwhiletheydidtheirhomeworkacrossfromme.Iwantedsomethingthatfeltdeliberate —ashapethatlookedathomeinthecorporateworld.Ilookedattheir “Marbig”rulerandthought,that’sit.Iusedthatrulertosetthebrowniedimensions —andsmilenowknowingsomanybrowniessincehavequietlyfollowedthatsamemeasure.Istillhavethoserulers.
Thetruthis,thisjourneybeganwithsomethingfarmorepersonal:myheartfellinlovewiththeideaofelevatingthehumblebrownie —takingitfromthebottomshelfandgivingittherecognitionitdeserved.Astarinitsownright.Notmass-producedorboxedinplastic,butbeautifullywrapped,handcrafted,andpresentedwithpride.Weweren’tjustbaking —wewerereimaginingwhatabrowniecouldbe.
Fromthebeginning,itwasafamilyeffort.Ourchildren,ourparents —allofuspouredtime,energy,andbeliefintobuildingnotjustaproduct,butafeeling.Abrowniethatdidn’tjusttasteamazing,butcarriedmeaning.That’swheretheideabehindourstoryofreimaginingbrowniesreallybegan —notasashapeorslogan,butasawaytodescribeeverythingwepouredintoeachbox:love,care,connection.Whatstartedinourheartsbecamesomethingotherscouldholdintheirs.
Whenwefirstlaunched,therewasnoluxurybrowniecategory.Browniesweren’tconsideredgift-worthy —certainlynotthecentrepieceofacorporateeventoragestureofdeepthanks.
Butwebelievedintheirpotential.Thatbelief,andthequietpersistencebehindit,helpedshapeanewmarketforluxurybrownies—notjustinBrisbane,butacrossAustralia.

Thephrase “brownieheart”hasalwayscarriedmeaningforus.Whileouroriginalbrownie —createdusingourchildren’sschoolruler —beganasacube,wesoonexpandedourofferingstoreflectdifferentmomentsandgiftingneeds.Inthoseearlyyears,weintroduced what was then gluten free brownies (we now call gluten friendly), several new flavours to sit alongside our Classic brownie andheart-shapedbrowniesasasmall,stylisedgesture —craftedwithrealchocolate,buttercream,andcare.Butovertime,theideaevolvedintosomethinggreaterthanshape.
Whatwefoundwasthatthetrueessenceofourbrownieswasn’tform —itwasfeeling.It’sthemomentsomeoneopensaboxandpauses.Thewaytheirfacesoftenswhentheyseeit’shandmade.Thesensethatsomethingsmall,wrappedwithcare,canspeaklouderthanwords.
Thissmallbatchbakingphilosophy —fullofthoughtfulness,pride,andquietjoy —istheemotionalcentreofeverythingwedo.
