The Tattersalls Club met at the Australia Hotel from 1983 to 1988 and then at various sites around Brisbane until ambition led to a design and development of a stand alone club room.

Opened in 1926, The Tattersalls Arcade was designed by Hall and Prentice who are also well known for their design of City Hall. The main hall of the Tattersalls Club is said to have been designed based on a repository hall at the Tattersalls Auction Room in London. The cost of building the club was 41,000 pouunds and it is estimated that a further 5000 pounds were spent on furnishing the luxurious club rooms.

Art History in the Tattersalls Arcade

Significant 20th Century Australian Artist & Sculptor Daphne Mayo created the decorative frieze called "Horses in Sport" that initially adorned the passageway at the  Queen St End of the Arcade . Although born in NSW, Daphne was educated at St. Margaret College in Brisbane. Daphne also crafted the much respected City Hall Tympanum and the Women's War Memorial at Anzac Square Brisbane.

Today the Tattersalls Clubroom has been expanded and the arcade itself is home to a number of prestige clothing and jewelry brands. Luxury Brownie and Cake creator Dello Mano is located in the arcade at the Queen St. end and offers a range of delicious luxury brownies and cakes, coffee and light savoury -7 days per week.

The Tattersalls Arcade offers both the Brisbane visitor and locals a great place to wander, enjoy a coffee and take in some of the delightful history of  the Tattersalls Arcade and Brisbane. A must see when visiting Brisbane.
