Pair taste success. by Erik De Wit City North News - Thursday September 6th 2007
Chocolate is a way of life Bien and Deb Peralta. The two
met at a chocolate factory and have since opened their own business making
and selling chocolate brownies and truffles. They sell their Dello
Mano wares at markets and send their distinctive brown and white striped
boxes around Australia. Mrs Peralta draws on her experience
as a food scientist at the business at Newstead's Breakfast Creek
Wharf. Her husband makes the brownies and does his best to eat into
the profit, admitting he is a chocoholic. But they would not have it
any other way. "It was always going to be chocolate." he
said. The two learned about the importance of food and packaging
while in Italy. "We loved Italy. We saw how people prepared
the food." he said. "People queued up and waited their
turn. Their food was nicely wrapped up. You felt special just
buying a couple of slices of prosciutto." The two met at
Cadbury's marketing department. They toyed with the idea of setting
up their own business for 14 years before taking the plunge. They
will soon add coffee to their
business. |
